The positions on the Running Crew depend on the size and scope of the show and what venue it’s performed in. Typical Running Crew positions include Spot Light Operators, Fly Rail Operators, Stage Managers, Special Effects Flying, and Deck Hands to move scenery.
Volunteers do not need any past experience to be part of the Running Crew- training will be provided “on the job.”
The Running Crew joins the production at the first tech rehearsal, typically a Sunday afternoon, and members must be available for all evening tech rehearsals, evening and matinee performances and strike through the following Sunday evening, so a commitment of 8 days.
Running Crew members:
• Are assigned to a specific task for the run of the show
• Some tasks- like specialty flying- might require additional rehearsal with cast members
• Are welcome to join the cast and staff for load in the day before tech rehearsals start
• Must be available for all tech rehearsals and performances for their show- it won’t work if you’d have to miss a rehearsal or a show
