The light board operator is responsible for running the light board for the show. Spot light operators run the spot lights. These people do not need any experience and can be taught everything they need to know. The light board operator and spot light operators are needed for all of the technical rehearsals and all performances. Technical rehearsals usually start the Sunday before the show opens.
Light Board Operator:
• Assists with setup of lighting equipment during load-in
• Ensures all lights work before the show starts
• Presses the “Go” button for lighting cues during the show as instructed
• Powering down equipment after technical rehearsals and performances
• May program/edit lighting cues depending on experience
Spot Light Operators:
• Assists with setup of lighting equipment during load-in
• Ensures all spot lights work before the show starts
• Runs the spot light during the show
